Electrical Stimulation
Interferential electrical stimulation (IFES) is a therapeutic modality used to manage pain and promote tissue healing. It involves the use of electrical currents to stimulate nerves and muscles. IFES works by delivering a high-frequency electrical signal through the skin, which interferes with the transmission of pain signals to the brain, effectively reducing the perception of pain. Additionally, the electrical stimulation can promote the release of endorphins, which are natural painkillers produced by the body. IFES can also improve circulation and promote tissue healing by increasing blood flow to the area. This therapy is commonly used in physical therapy and chiropractic settings to treat a variety of conditions, including muscle strains, arthritis, and chronic pain.
